As the largest and most respected golf cart manufacturer in the world, Club Car puts a great deal of effort into researching and developing the latest technologies to improve its products, and the latest model proves that Club Car is miles above the rest. Driving the Precedent i3 is like being at the controls of a spaceship, but it is much easier to figure out than you would ever imagine.
Club Car is in no danger of losing sales to the competition, and the Precedent i3 is already making appearances at some of the most prestigious country clubs, attractions and events on the planet. Even though it seemed like the Precedent i2 couldn’t be topped, it was missing one important element that gives its successor an edge over anything else out there: the Internet. The Precedent i3 is the world’s first golf cart fully connected to the Internet to enhance style, comfort and functionality whether it is on the golf course, at your job or simply driving through your community.
Club Car first introduced the Precedent i3 at the PGA Merchandise Show in January 2014, and since that time, this state-of-the-art low-speed vehicle (LSV) has only improved.
“Never before in our history has Club Car brought to the market the number of new products with the amount of innovation and potential impact that these products represent,” said Marc Dufour, the president and CEO of Club Car, upon its release.
“Machines that interact with the businesses and customers they were designed to serve become more than machines,” Dufour continued. “Effectively, they are smart tools capable of supporting business objectives. That’s what makes the new Precedent i3 a true business resource for our customers.”
The Precedent i3 includes the most advanced features of any golf cart on the market today. Every unit boasts a mounted touchscreen that is connected to a golf shop, maintenance facility or base of operations via the Internet. It also provides you with real-time statistics on the car’s performance to give you total control over the vehicle and to diagnose current and potential problems so that they can be corrected or prevented before they occur.
The Precedent i3 delivers a full range of powerful features even when you do not consider the futuristic technology, which has been dubbed Connected. The electric model produces zero emissions, and the gasoline model includes the most advanced engine ever produced for an LSV. It also features improved performance, quieter operation, reduced vibrations, more horsepower and greater fuel economy.
However, you simply cannot talk about the Precedent i3 without getting into everything the Connected technology does for business owners relying on their fleet of LSVs and for those who operate the vehicles for personal use.
“Properly leveraged information is the competitive difference in most businesses today,” said Dufour. “The information Precedent i3 provides gives operators more control of their operation, which can lead to a more successful business.”
A few of the most exciting features of the Connected system are as follows:
• Interactive, three-dimensional mapping is provided through Google maps.
• Data is sent and received through cellular Internet service.
• A welcome screen provides you with pertinent information about the vehicle, the golf course and your route.
• Enhanced tracking helps you find your car on or off the course.
• Self-diagnostic tests are conducted to give you information on the status of the vehicle.
• Usage is tracked so that you can receive informational reports on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis.
• The computer gives you the distances to nearby points of interest.
“The company’s driving force for more than 50 years has been a commitment to the highest quality golf, utility and transportation vehicles that enhance the enjoyment of the game for millions of golfers while helping course owners and managers operate more efficiently, and we believe we are fulfilling our commitment,” concluded Dufour.
EFI is the name of Club Car’s advanced gasoline engine, which is a 404 cc Subaru with a single cylinder, air-cooling and splash lubrication. It has 14 horsepower and a five-year warranty, which is the best in the business. The EFI’s overhead cam is compact, simple in design and made of hardened steel. It gets 35 mpg while providing you with 35 percent more power over the previous Club Car engine.
The new electrical charging system is known by the acronym ERIC, which stands for efficient, reliable intelligent and connected. The ERIC system is available on all electric models and boosts efficiency by 10 percent.
