More recently, a new and exciting demonstration of unusual golf cart power came in the form of wild and unique drag race between a heavily modified, Hayabusa-powered golf cart and a beefed-up Corvette Z06.<\/p>\n<h2>The Contenders<\/h2>\n<p>Joey Halloway powered his \u201cBusakart\u201d golf cart using a 1300cc, four-cylinder engine from a Hayabusa motorcycle. His custom ride makes 158 horsepower to the rear wheels, and it also boasts a nitrous kit from Nitrous Outlet. With nothing in tow but an engine and a driver, there is little stand in the cart\u2019s way.<\/p>\n<p>Halloway\u2019s challenger is Kevon Maxwell, whose Z06 Corvette isn\u2019t exactly run-of-the-mill stock. The car has a 441 cubic-inch LSX engine under its hood, and it\u2019s linked to an F1-X ProCharger. The pairing delivers more than 1,000 horsepower to the car\u2019s tires.<\/p>\n<p>The no-time grudge race wasn\u2019t just for fun or novelty. The winner scored a cool $1,000 in cash.<\/p>\n<h2>Exhilarating Seconds to Victory<\/h2>\n<p>The race took place at Green Cove Dragway, one of the most popular weekend race venues in northeast Florida. It\u2019s a safe assumption that the Corvette driver thought he could easily beat his opponent with a car boasting more than six times the horsepower, but the golf cart\u2019s light profile worked in its favor.<\/p>\n<p>The Busakart took off at lightning speed, and although the Corvette seemed to make headway for a moment, a missed gear allowed the cart to take the finish for a surprising and exhilarating victory that makes little sense on paper but looks amazing on playback.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7lilnFCxU7A\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>A popular old adage asserts that you should never judge a book by its cover. Apparently, it also applies to golf carts.
